Product Review – Super Fruit Exfoliating Cleanser with Blueberries, Grape Skin & Acai – Scout Cosmetics

By now, I think it’s fair to say that we are all aware of my cleanser addiction, and if you aren’t well you need to take a look over my previous product reviews!

When I was asked to provide a review on the very yummy Super Fruit Exfoliating Cleanser with Blueberries, Grape Skin & Acai – it’s safe to say I jumped at the chance!

If you weren’t aware I actually interview Sylvie, the founder of Scout Cosmetics a couple of months ago for Meet the Makers . You can find that interview here.

Priced at $34.95 for 150ml and made with 86% certified organic ingredients, it is extremely good value.

Packing is on point, just like the rest of the Scout Cosmetics range. The cleanser is easily accessible with the handy pump, and I find that 2-3 pumps is all you need.

While packaging doesn’t make or break a product (it’s whats inside that counts), I really love the purple label against the purple in the product – it’s fun, quirky and adds a pop of colour to the bathroom!

As the name suggests, hero ingredients in the Super Fruit Exfoliating Cleanser are;

  • Blueberries – assists with collagen productions
  • Grape Skin – antioxidant rich and works to repair skin cells
  • Acai – vitamin and mineral packed including omegas 3,6 and 9 plus vitamin B, E & C are just some of them

While the name suggests it is an exfoliator, I was interested to feel and see no environmentally-friendly exfoliating beads or ground nuts etc. The reason for this is the natural fruit extracts contain AHA’s (alpha hydroxy acid) and therefore act as the exfoliant.

I found the cleanser removed my foundation easily, and didn’t leave behind any residue. It was also able to remove an oily based balm I used and left my skin feeling clean.

I enjoyed how easily it lathers, I simply rubbed the product between my palms to activate the lather before applying to my face. This ensured my skin didn’t pull while I rubbed the cleanser onto my face.

The fruity scent isn’t too over-powering and I pick up hints of Aloe Vera which is another key ingredient that helps the skin maintain its moisture and can also reduce redness in the skin.

I hope you all have an amazing week ahead! Kick those goals!

Product Review – Qasil Powder, Qasil Organics

Roughly 3 months ago, I reviewed the Qasil Organics, Qasil Facial Mask. This was the first product from Qasil Organics and is a liquid based mask. You can find my full review of the Qasil Facial Mask here.

After reading about the Qasil Leaf and how it can benefit the skin I was quite excited to try the Qasil Facial Mask, even today, it is still a mask I reach for as part of my beauty routine.

A quick overview of the Qasil Leaf – it makes for a great exfoliant and also acts as a cleanser. Qasil Leaf is from the Gob Tree which is found in East Africa.

At the same time I was reviewing the original mask, Qasil Organics launched a new product – Qasil Powder. This is a dry powder that you mix yourself as you need it. I was excited to try this too as I enjoy mixing my own masks. Generally there is less waste and they are more concentrated.

The Qasil Organics, Qasil Powder retails for $30 however it comes in a large resealable pouch weighing in at 200g. This is a large amount of product and well worth the value, as you are mixing this yourself with water before applying to the face.

As I mentioned, all you need to do is mix 1/2 teaspoon with a little water and mix until you have a smooth consistency. Apply to the face and leave for 5 minutes, then rinse.
Just like the Qasil Facial Mask (and pretty much any mask!), I like to wash this off in the shower as it can be a little messy.

I’ve noticed since using the Qasil Facial Mask and Qasil Powder, my skin feels soft to touch, smoother and brighter.

You can purchase the two products from the Qasil Organics website.

Happy Masking!

Product Review – Vitamin C Brightening Serum with Kakadu Plum, Tumeric & Rosehip, Scout Cosmetics

Ask me when my favourite time of the month is and I can say its when I review a selected Scout Cosmetics product!
July’s product was the Vitamin C Brightening Serum with Kakadu Plum, Tumeric & Roship – I was super excited to try this one.

The Vitamin C Brightening Serum with Kakadu Plum, Tumeric & Roship retails for $45.95 and can be purchased from the Scout Cosmetics website.

Like all Scout Cosmetics products, this is jam-packed with a bunch of super ingredients such as Kakadu Plum, Aloe Vera juice, Tumeric, Rosehip and Orange Peel.

I was really interested to learn what healing benefits Tumeric had. I mean, I knew it was a superfood and great for digestion but how could it benefit my face?
Fun fact, Tumeric has anti-inflammatory properties and it can assist with healing acne scars plus reducing breakouts.

I’ve spoken about Kakadu Plum and how it has more Vitamin C than any other ingredient. Why is Vitamin C important in skincare? It holds amazing anti-aging properties and assists the skin produce collagen.
Rosehip also assists with preventing those dreaded wrinkles!

One of the main things I adore about Scout Cosmetics is the use of organic ingredients where possible. In this 30ml bottle of goodness, 95% of the ingredients are organic.  Very impressive!

While using this light-weight formula in the evenings, my skin feels hydrated and also visibly plumper. I love putting this on just after a shower when my skin is warm and ready to soak up all the goodness.
I really enjoy the smell of this, and the light fragrance it leaves once applied to my face.

As with all the Scout Cosmetics range, this comes in an easy to use plastic bottle with dropper that makes application easy.

Product Review – Natura Skincare

I first met Monica the night I launched my first Meet the Makers Interview. I had put it forward to see who would be keen to take part and Monica was one of the first to put her hand up!
You can find the Meet the Makers interview with Monica here.

Monica sent over a selection of products to review, after I mentioned this is something I also do, to assist small business owners.

I received the following;

  • St Clements Scrub 250g
  • Rejuvenating Cacao & Honey Mask 50ml
  • Rejuvenating Serum, normal to oily skin 30ml

All products are made in small batches, by hand, to ensure all customers are receiving the freshest of products.

Natura Skincare’s products are free of fillers, chemicals and synthetics. They also do not test on animals.

Rejuvenating Cacao & Honey Mask 50ml
I was so excited to try this mask, the name sounds so inviting – Cacao & Honey. It sounds so good, I just want to eat it!

I’ve found due to winter, this mask does harden, but that’s easy to fix. Simply warm a little mask between your fingers or in your palm then apply.

Not only does this mask contain Cacao & Honey but also Kaolin White Australian Clay which helps to exfoliate and draw impurities, Shea Butter which provides moisturising properties.

When removing the mask, I like to use warm water and a muslin cloth. It will leave your skin feeling soft with a little residue from the moisturisng grapeseed and rose hip oils.

St Clements Scrub 250g – $25.00AUD
I’ve been finding this scrub perfect for winter. It not only hydrates my skin but the citrus blend of essential oils that are used are perfectly uplifting. I love using the scrub in the shower where I can take advantage of the beautiful aromas!

Raw Sugar has been used as the exfoliator, which I love. I find sometimes salt can be a little drying.

Rejuvenating Serum, normal to oily skin 30ml – $32AUD
The perfect golden oil, that’s not to heavy and comes in a glass bottle with a handy pump. Looks aside this is made up of some beautiful ingredients, including 6 oils;

  • Jojoba Oil
  • Macadamia
  • Rosehip
  • Coconut
  • Grapeseed
  • Apricot Seed

The inclusion of Hyaluronic Acid aids the skin in retaining moisture. One of my favourite oils is also used, Seabuckthorn! I love that stuff!

This is perfect morning or night due to its lightweight formula, however like with most oils I tend to use this at night.

I’ve really enjoyed using these products. You can tell so much heart, love and soul has gone into them.

I also love Monica’s enthusiasm for natural beauty, and how happy she is to share her knowledge. If you have any questions about Natura Skincare, feel free to reach out to Monica! She would love to hear from you!

I hope you have enjoyed tonight’s review of Natura Skincare, Monica’s details are listed below;

Product Review – Botany Beauty (new items!), Malie Organics

Several months back, Malie Organics expanded on their Botany Beauty line (previously was just the Firming Cream) with the introduction of the following 3 products;

  • Cleansing Polish
  • Illuminating Moisturizer
  • Luxe Eye Cream

I shared my thoughts on the new products in a blog post, which I will share the link too however I will say this. I absolutely love the Cleansing Polish. It’s this perfect jelly like consistency that smells like heaven!

The Illuminating Moisturiser is perfect for under my makeup and provides a subtle glow and the Luxe Eye Cream is a thick cream perfect for the under eye area. You can find the full review of the above products here.

I was excited when they first launched the range, and after knowing how good these products are, I could hardly contain my excitement!

The newest products to the range are;

  • Coffee Fruit Mask
  • Kaua’i Clay Mask
  • Hydrosol Facial Tonic
  • Illuminating Serum

The new products are packaged in the signature Botany Beauty packaging, with the gold and white, which looks so luxurious and sits beautifully on the make up shelf!

Coffee Fruit Mask 15ml – $55USD
This is the most interesting product I have tried in such a long time. When you hear the word’s “mask” you expect something quite thick. Although this has the consistency more so of a serum but you apply it to cleansed skin and leave for up to 5 minutes.

The ingredients – just one! Hawaiian Coffee Fruit Extract which the Malie website states has more antioxidant power than any other fruit source.

Like most masks, I like to apply this just before popping in the shower as I have a tendency to get masks everywhere! Ha!

Kaua’i Clay Mask 120ml – $45USD
The Kaua’i Clay Mask is not like any clay mask I’ve ever tried. With one of the ingredients being Kaua’i Bentonite Clay it dries quite firm. However once I add a little water to remove the mask it turns to this beautiful consistency, very smooth and easy to remove.

My skin generally goes quite red when I use clay masks, however I don’t find that with the Kaua’i Clay Mask as it’s quite gentle.

Other ingredients include Aloe and Blue Green Algae, so much super power in the jar!

Hydrosol Facial Tonic 50ml – $45USD
The Hydrosol Facial Tonic is made from pure Jasmine and Rose Hydrosols. Not sure what a hydrosol is? A hydrosol is produced by distilling flowers and leaves, to form a gentle alternative to pure essential oils.

The Hydrosol Facial Tonic can be used as a toner, but what I love using it for is to spritz as my face mask dries to add a little moisture and some added nutrients!

I love how light this is on the skin, plus it smells absolutely divine!

Illuminating Serum 30ml – $45USD
Attention! This is now my new favourite, although the Cleansing Polish is a strong contender. I love this serum with all my heart, it’s light, perfectly packaged, smells divine and has a bunch of amazing oils (9 in total) to provide you with all the antioxidant power you need!

I love to use this at night, after I’ve finished my shower. I find the serum the perfect end to my skincare routine as I settle into bed for the night.

This is on my “must have” shopping list for when I am in Hawaii, I may even need to bring back a few bottles!

While I love the Malie Organics brand a whole lot, these new products are amazing! Again, I can’t fault them at all. Everything has been thought through, they are perfect in every way.

You can find all of the Malie Organics products on their website.

Not only is Malie Organics creating these beautiful products, they also do amazing work for their community. The #givingbackisbeautiful campaign runs on different days through the year and 100% of profits for that given day is donated to a selected community charity. So special!

Thank you Malie for all that you do, and for creating such beauty!

June Empties

A short blog to talk about the June empties. Not too much to report, I finished 4 products. Those 4 products are as follows;

  • Mario Badescu A.H.A Botanical Soap
  • The Ordinary Foundation
  • Tarte Lights Camera Lashes
  • Drunk Elephant Beste No.9 Jelly Cleanser

Drunk Elephant Beste No.9 Jelly Cleanser – Mecca Maxima
Out of the 4, I would most likely repurchase 3 of the 4 products. Unfortunately I have used other cleansers that I prefer over the Beste No.9 Jelly Cleanser. I have mentioned previously, I do wear quite heavy eye make up and when looking for a cleanser I am looking for something that can generally remove it.

I also found the texture too jelly like and not very oily, again something I look for to remove my eye makeup.

I do love Drunk Elephants packaging though, easy to use and the screw top lid makes it easy to not be wasteful. Plus how cute is the bright packaging!

Verdict – I will not be repurchasing

Mario Bedescu A.H.A Botanical Soap – Mecca Maxima
I absolutely LOVE the Mario Bedescu A.H.A Botanical Soap, it smells lovely and doesn’t bubble too much.

It has such a pleasant scent also, and after using my body feels refreshed and clean.

It is quite pricey for the size, I think from memory it was $12-$14? However it’s reasonable if this was a splurge item you were picking up.

Verdict – I will repurchase (when I can splurge)

Lights, Cameras, Lashes by Tarte – Sephora
Even with all the Tarte drama of previous months, this is still one of my favourite mascaras. It is a great formula that is hard to smudge, doesn’t drop onto the under eyes as the day progresses and is also easy enough to remove.

This packaging was from the Limited Edition Christmas Mascara.

Verdict – I will repurchase

The Ordinary Coverage Foundation – Deciem, South Yarra
This little bottle packs a real punch and definitely one of my favourite foundations. It has quickly replaced NARS on my love list, especially since NARS decided to sell in China for a quick buck.

I do find the coverage quite light though, and don’t agree its full coverage. In saying that, I like to wear this foundation during the day for that reason.

Verdict – I will repurchase

I hope you enjoyed this quick little blog on my June empties! Let me know your thoughts.

Product Review – Kiss Ready Lips

On Saturday the lovely Louella from Kiss Ready Lips, sat down with us for Meet the Makers and to tell us a little more about herself. You can find her interview here..

A little recap, I met Louella at the Sydney Finders Keepers in December last year and fell in love with her positivity. Just watching her explain how her products worked and why she created them, made me so interested – I quickly snapped up one of the gift sets, a scrub and a lip balm!

Louella crafts all the products by hand. After being impressed with the nutritional and healing properties of the chia seed, this paved the way for Louella to learn more about the superfood and see how it could be incorporated into skincare and beauty.

I absolutely love the Rose Omega Face Balm, with its silky smooth texture and the gentle exfoliation from the oats…more about that soon!

Louella also has Kiss Ready Baby and Mama under the umbrella which includes lighter versions of the oils specifically made for baby’s skin and nursing mums.

All products are vegan and cruelty free too!

Omega Rose Face Balm – $58AUD
As I mentioned above, I absolutely LOVE the Rose Omega Face Balm. It is so dreamy. It has a creamy texture that melts when you apply it your face. It has finely milled oat flour which acts as an extremely gentle exfoliator.

It has a subtle scent of rose, which reminds me of some Turkish Delight.

I use this as my second cleanse, due to my use of waterproof make up, however I find it cleanses extremely well and could be used as a first cleanse.

You can also use this as a lip balm and on dry patches of skin such as elbows, knees and feet.

Omega Rose Face Mist – $26.95AUD
I like to keep my bottle of Omega Rose Face Mist in the fridge, to use as a little facial treat when it’s warm or when my face starts to feel a little dry from the heating.

It’s nice to use as a little stress-reliever too as the scent of rose is quite calming.

Light Chia Oil – $25.00AUD
The hero of the family, the Light Chia Oil is made up of 4 ingredients;
* Sweet Almond Oil
* Chia Oil, sourced within Australia
* Rose Geranium extract oil
* Rosemary extract oil

Another multi-purpose product, the Light Chia Oil can be used is multiple ways. Since my operation I’ve been using it on my scars (along with other oils I have) and also I like to use it on the ends of my hair.

It comes with a handy dropper, so easy to apply just the right amount.

Superfoods Antioxidant Face Mask – $50AUD
This mask lives up to its name with an antioxidant rich combination of green superfoods such as chia, spinach and kale – it smells very green, it reminds me a little of a vegetable soup.

Green in colour, it comes as a powder which when mixed with water becomes a paste which you then apply to your face. The benefits of this is the mask, when in powder form, is more potent and rich in vitamins. It’s also a great way to minimise waste.

I am a big fan of this mask, I find it leaves my skin feeling smooth, soft and plump.

Kiss Ready Lips is a great little Australian brand, created by someone who is extremely passionate about what they are doing. Although I am a big fan of Louella, she is also very supportive of myself and what I’m doing for small business’s. For this I’m incredibly grateful.

If you would like to check out the Kiss Ready range, simply click here.

You can also find Louella on Instagram – @ kissreadylips

As always, any questions please feel free to reach out – I love to chat!

Product Review – Elemental Renewal Serum, Five Elements

Several months back I was sent a bottle of the Elemental Renewal Serum by Five Elements to try out and review. Since then, this little bottle of goodness is my go-to for when I travel.

Created by Karen McKay, who spent years studying science and botany, Karen was able to formulate her first product – Five Elements Skin Tonic to assist a friend with severe eczema. Word spread amongst family and friends and before long Karen was encouraged to start her own brand. Five Elements was born!

You may be thinking, why call it Five Elements. This is due to the unique 5 plant formula that has been researched and developed for each individual plants properties. This formula is then used alongside super oils, such as Avocado, Jojoba and Rosehip oil that is great for the skin.

Extracts used in the formulas are grown in Karen’s herb farm located in Marlborough, New Zealand.

As I mentioned above, I love using it when I travel. Once I board, I do a quick cleanse before I apply the Elemental Renewal Serum. I do a quick roll with either my jade or quartz roller, then sit back and enjoy the flight.

When I arrive at my destination, my skin always feels so hydrated. There is so tightness, nor does it feel sticky. The serum also smells like heaven!

Not only are Five Elements creating products that contain active ingredients, they are also doing some great work to protect our environment.

For the months of June and July, Five Elements are donating 15% of all profits to the Bat Recovery Project in the Pelorus Bridge Reserve. In New Zealand, bats are considered an endangered species. Funds donated go to supporting the preservation of the species.

Five Elements ships to Australia, with shipping approximately $7.50 NZD, however do check on their website for your specific location pricing.

Below are all the social media deets for Five Elements;

  • Website:
  • Instagram: @fiveelementsnz

Thank you to Five Elements for reaching out to me, I absolutely love the Elemental Renewal Serum! I also love what you doing for the environment and your contribution to New Zealand’s conservation efforts.

Happy humpday!

Product Review – Tribe Skincare Trial/Travel Kit

On Saturday night I interviewed Kayla, the founder of Tribe Skincare for Meet the Makers and you guys loved it! You can find the interview with Kayla here. I really love Kayla, as I mentioned in the interview she has grown an amazing business and also supports other business owners on their journey #girlssupportinggirls.

I thought I would follow up the interview, with a review of the Tribe Skincare Trial/Travel Kit I purchased about a month ago. The Trial/Travel Kit is a great starter for those wanting to try the products before committing to full size and also great for weekends away.

The Trial Kit retails for $48 AUD and you can often pick up a free express shipping code from time to time, making this little bundle very affordable.

All Tribe Skincare products are cruelty free and vegan friendly.

There are close to 79 reviews on the Trial/Travel Kit with 64 of these reviews being 5 stars – nothing like a product that customers are raving about!

Tribe Skincare specialises in sensitive and acne prone skin types. Kayla regularly shares before and after’s of customers skin and the improvements they have enjoyed from using Tribe.

The Trial/Travel Kit comes with 4 products;

  • Clean Me! Balm Cleanser
  • Scrub Me Exfoliant
  • Hydrate Me! Night Moisturiser
  • Protect Me! Day Moisturiser with SPF15

Clean Me! Balm Cleanser
The full-size Clean Me! Balm Cleanser retails for $44 AUD for 125 ml. The website states it melts away make-up, which it does do however I prefer to use this as my second cleanse to finish my routine. I wear extremely heavy waterproof eye make up and like to remove that first with a oil cleanser, before finishing with Clean Me!

This is a lightly scented cleanser, and great on no-make up days too. I find it leaves my skin feeling soft, and not tight.

The Clean Me! Balm Cleanser has desert lime as a key ingredient, lush!

Scrub Me! Exfoliant
The full-size Scrub Me! Exfoliant retails for $55 AUD for 70g and comes as a powder. The great thing about this is, you can mix just as much as you need while controlling the texture. Key ingredients are crushed oats and white clay, which help draw out any impurities. This also doubles as a mask, which is super handy if you are wanting a deep cleanse and makes the product multi-purpose.

Its lightweight, easy to mix and leaves skin feeling clean.

Hydrate Me! Night Moisturiser
The full size Hydrate Me! Night Moisturiser sells for $48.00 for 60ml. Both the full size and trial size come with a handy pump so you control how much product you use. It includes one of the hottest ingredients everyone is talking about – Hyaluronic Acid.

The Hydrate Me! Night Moisturiser is a similar consistency to the Clean Me! Balm Cleanser, and goes on smoothly without pulling the skin.

I found this deeply moisturising and perfect to use as a night cream.

Protect Me! Day Moisturiser with SPF15
The full size Hydrate Me! Night Moisturiser sells for $48.00 for 60ml. I absolutely love this. Again, its light on the skin but also offers some sun protection. It’s easy to wear under make-up, and creates a lovely base for my foundation.

It is more creamier than the Hydrate Me! Night Moisturiser and I really enjoy the scent.

I really enjoy using Tribe Skincare it’s gentle and easy on my skin. I can easily see why the brand has not only a heap of reviews but also a very engaged “tribe”.

I also loved that my package arrived with a mini skittles – how cool is that!

Next on my list is the new Fruit Tingle! Body Moisturiser that smells like Fruit Tingles – YUM!

I hope you enjoyed my review of the Tribe Skincare Trial/Travel Kit.

As always, please reach out if you wish to chat or have any requests for products you would like me to try!

Product Review – Balance and Replenish Light Moisturiser, Scout Cosmetics

Did you happen to catch my interview with Sylvie from Scout Cosmetics on Saturday night? If not, you can find the interview here.

It was so lovely to catch up with Sylvie and hear more about Scout Cosmetics, the future plans and how even a day in the life of Sylvie.

This month, I have been trying the Balance & Replenish Light Moisturise with Calendula, Red Mandarin and Pumpkin which retails for $39.95 for 50mls.

The Balance & Replenish Light Moisturiser is made up of 84% Certified Organic Ingredients, and like all Scout Cosmetics products, are not tested on animals.

The use of calendula works to reduce redness, while mandarin oil can work to calm the skin. Making these two ingredients perfect for use under make up or even on those make up free days.

Pumpkin oil fights free radicals and also works to keep moisture in the skin.

Like all Scout Cosmetics skincare products I’ve used, the packaging is spot on. The Balance & Replenish Light Moisturiser comes with a handy pump ensuring that you are only using what you need. Like the 6 Oils of Rejuvenation, any remainder product cane used on your cuticles to reduce waste!

This product lives up to its name, it is a light cream and goes on easily. It also absorbs into the skin, while leaving a pleasant earthy scent on the skin. I like to use this at night due to the essential oils, during the day I prefer nothing scented so as not to clash with my perfume.

Although a light cream, I do find it extremely hydrating on the skin. I generally wear this on make up free days so have yet to try it under makeup. I do note on the website, you can also use this on top of Scout Cosmetics Serums.

You can purchase this serum on the Scout Cosmetics website.

I hope you enjoyed this months review of the Balance & Replenish Light Moisturise with Calendula, Red Mandarin and Pumpkin.

As always, please reach out if you have any thoughts or feedback – I’d love to chat!
