Cacao Chocolate Chia Puddings

I was very excited to be announced as a Brand Ambassador for the beautiful organic brand, Buddha Organics. I can’t wait to bring you some really yummy, organic recipes using their super food blends!

For today’s recipe, I am using the Organic Cacao Chocolate Blend. This blend is rich in Magnesium and high in antioxidants. It is also;

* Low GI
* Vegan
* GMO Free
* No fillers or additives
* Certified organic

So for breakfast, I thought why not make dessert for breakfast – but one that is healthy! Can this delicious Cacao Chocolate Chia Pudding really be my breakfast? It looks like dessert? What is this magic?

Photo 20-1-18, 3 03 51 pm_preview

Ingredients
* 2 cups of almond milk (or dairy substitute)
* 1 cup chia seeds
* 2 tsp Organic Cacao Chocolate Blend by Buddha Organics
* 1 tsp on maple syrup
* 1 banana
* coconut to taste
* 1 punnet of mulberries
* 1 punnet of strawberries

fullsizeoutput_2f
Chia Puddings are the absolute easiest thing to make. So easy, even I can make it!

Simply blend the banana, almond milk, maple syrup, coconut and Organic Cacao Chocolate Blend.

Once blended, add the chia seeds but do not blend. Simply shake the container to distribute the chia seeds evenly.

Pour into glasses, cover and chill in fridge until set (usually over night!).

When set, simply top with selected fruit and eat! You could even add some chopped almonds to the top for some added crunch.

So good, you will honestly think it’s your dessert!

What’s your favourite chia pudding? Do share!

Super Greens Smoothie Bowl

It is hot in Melbourne today. We don’t get too many hot days here, so I really shouldn’t complain, but I hate the heat! I plan on surviving the heat by making this amazingly delicious, nutritious and refreshing Smoothie Bowl.

Smoothie Bowls are super easy to make, and you really can use any ingredients that you think will taste great.

There is no right or wrong way with a Smoothie Bowl. I always just free-style it, I prefer a thick smoothie so add frozen fruit such as banana to increase the thickness.

For today’s Smoothie Bowl I used the following;
* Rockmelon
* Strawberries
* Blueberries
* Chia seeds
* Pepita seeds
* Raspberries
* Coconut water
* Frozen banana
* Baby spinach
* Boost, Greener Pastures packet
* Freedom Foods Crafted Blends gluten-free bar

I like to see what superfood bars are on special at the Supermarket and include those as a bit of crunch and added sweetness.

Blend the Boost Greener Pastures with 1 cup of coconut water, baby spinach and peptia seeds until you have a smooth consistency. I also added some of the chia seeds, keeping some out for decorating purposes.

Pour into bowl and decorate with berries and additional Chia seeds.

I used cutters to cut out the cute “love” message and stars from the Rockmelon. Time consuming but cute right?

Serve chilled.

Have you enjoyed my recipe, Super Greens Smoothie Bowl? I’d love to hear any feedback you may have!

What’s your favourite Smoothie Bowl recipe?

Renee

P.S Stay cool Melbourne!

Lush Christmas Haul

Well I did it. I went insane and spent close to $100 on bath bombs, why? I don’t even know. Sure I love a Lush bathbomb as part of my #selfcaresunday routine but spending close to $100, girrrl!

I guess, it’s ok as they WERE on sale. A sale so secret that Lush didn’t even advertise it. This came after all the outrage last year when they advertised the sale and their website crashed for hours.

Ok, so I paid $92 for 19 Christmas themed bathbombs which is a pretty good deal considering. What has me thinking though, what is the true price of a bathbomb if they are able to offer such a massive discount? And imagine being one of the poor people who purchased this as a gift for $185 and then realised it’s down to $92?

Did you happen to get anything in the Lush sales?

Let’s breakdown what I got in the Wonderful Christmas Time Giftbox.

1. Luxury Lush Pud
Scented with lavender and Tonka, this is an extremely colourful bathbomb.

2. Snow Fairy Jelly Bomb
Yum!!! I love the Snow Fairy range, it’s extremely sweet so if you aren’t a fan of sweetness perhaps steer clear. This is not filled with jelly like I was originally thinking, I had these visions of jelly oozing out. The “jelly” part is squishy and a different consistency to that of the bath bomb part.

3. Thunderstorm Bath Bomb
The scent of Gardenia and Peppermint draw you in but it’s the popping candy that make this bath bomb fun!

4. Christmas Sweater
Sadly this one doesn’t look like the marketing material. It’s meant to be two reindeer’s and judging by the name mimicking a Christmas sweater?
This is scented with Ginger and Clove and will be sure to warm you on a cold night.

5. Snow Fairy Fun
This is so much fun to play with! It is like actual playdoh, but it smells so good! Another member of the Snow Fairy family, I’m not sure what the bits of paper are for?

6. Golden Wonder
A really pretty bath bomb that takes an incredible 3 days to assemble!
I wasn’t impressed with this bath bomb. While absolutely stunning, think blue-green waters and gold shimmer with gold stars – it smelt terrible. Hardly any smell, and what I could smell was not very nice.

7. Shoot for the Stars
Love LOVE this bath bomb! It is so pretty and smells lovely with hints of Orange and Bergamot. The stars are actually buttery bundles of joy that are extremely creamy. Plus it has glitter!

8. Twilight
Let the scent of Lavender and Tonka wash over you while you forget your worries.

9. Christmas Eve
So pretty!! It reminds me of when you tell someone “I love you like all the stars in the heavens”. Hold the heavens in your hand while you run it under water to create a bath of bubbles. Scented with Ylang Ylang.

10. Intergalactic
Another one of my favourites, I love the pops of pink and yellow against the blue water. Plus it has glitter which is a win in my book.

11. Butterbear
This little bear features vanilla and fair trade cocoa butter.
Isn’t he the cutest with his little scarf!

12. Sherbet Dip
Probably the one I’m least excited to try purely as it is scented with citrus oils, and I’m just not a fan of citrus. It looks like there are other colours under the yellow though, so that excites me to see how this unfolds!

13. Plum Snow
The white is a snowflake. Although it’s a little smudged. This smells absolutely divine and features Mandarin and Plum. This is a bubble bar.

14. Lord of Misrule
Now this looks groovy and the description even groovier!
“Revel in the bath with a wine-coloured, mystically-scented soak”.
Wine-coloured? But it’s green! Oh the mystery!

15. Candy Mountain
“Charlie, Candy Mountain Charlie”
Yess! A bubble bar scented with vanilla and candy. It’s a massive YES from me!

16. Christmas Cracker
Visually this is a winner! It reminds me of TNT?
Scented with Lemon Myrtle and Lime, as I mentioned I’m not a fan of citrus but that fluro pink has got me!

17. The Comforter
Mmmm black currant. Another bubble bar, this is nice and sweet. I’m ready to be blanketed in sweetness!

18. Magic Wand
So not only is this the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen, it’s also reusable!!! Ah, the hip pocket rests easy. Another candy scented product, this bubble bar makes me so happy and is aesthetically pleasing!

19. The Magic of Christmas
Another reusable Bubble Bar but with gold glitter AND mounted on a cinnamon stick!Scented with clove and almond…mmmmm

I hope you enjoyed my Lush Haul, let me know what you purchased in their secret sale!

P.S it would be totally awesome if your social media team could engage with its customers! We love you guys so much and a simple like would go so far!

Brand Review – Skinfood New Zealand

Skinfood was created in 2003 in New Zealand, recently it was made available on Australian shores exclusively though Bio Living (www.bioliving.com.au). I must mention now, these prices are extremely well priced for their size, the ingredients used and also the healing properties.

Photo 19-11-17, 4 21 17 pm_preview
Skinfood’s products are certified organic and use bioactive extracts, such as plant and food extracts to feed your skin. Essential oils also play an important role in their products. Hero ingredients such as Manuka Honey and Rotorua mud are abundant and bring a little slice of New Zealand to you, wherever you may be.

The Skinfood range is free from (as sourced from their website);

  • Parabens
  • Genetically Modified Ingredients
  • Sulphates
  • Artificial colours
  • Nano ingredients
  • Dioxins
  • Triclosan
  • Toxic Minerals
  • Sodium Laurel Sulphate (SLS)
  • Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLES)
  • Harsh Detergents,
  • Propylene Glycol

They also believe in sourcing sustainable ingredients, are cruelty free and their packaging is recyclable – which is awesome for the environment!
As part of their cruelty free status, while they do use honey thus not making the products vegan they do hold certification from the Vegetarian Society which is pretty cool!

Products
Mud Masque – $16.00 AUD ($14.99 NZD)

This is an AMAZING mask. I absolutely adore it. I love the smell, the texture, the size of the bottle, the price, the ingredients and most importantly how it leaves my skin glowing.
I love the use of the Rotorua mud, which is high in minerals.
I highly recommend the Mud Masque, especially if you are wanting to try out the brand.

Photo 22-11-17, 5 59 10 am_preview
Certified Organic Rosehip Oil – $24.99 AUD ($23.99 NZD)
Nearly every beauty line offers Rosehip Oil, so what makes this one different? The use of the Sweet Orange Oil! It adds subtle fragrance which I loved. If you havent used Rosehip Oil, add it to your kit – stat! Its great with assisting skin to repair, such as scars and stretch marks. I love to apply the oil in circular motions then roll over my face and neck with my Rose Quartz Roller (purchased from http://www.iamnaturalstore.com.au)

Photo 26-11-17, 1 08 18 pm_preview

Tanning Moisturiser – $19.99 AUD ($16.99 NZD)
Reap the benefits of the sun WITHOUT the damaging effects? Sign me up please! Everyone knows, we look better slightly tanned! Ingredients include Rosehip Oil, Sweet Almond Oil and Sunflower Oil and will ensure you keep that sun kissed look all year round.
Photo 26-11-17, 1 09 07 pm_preview

Certified Organic Coconut Mist Toner – $16.00 AUD ($12.99 NZD)
Gentle and light-weight, this toner includes witch hazel, which works to reduce inflammation, acne and tighten pores. The certified organic coconut oil works to keep skin hydrated. A very subtle scent and another favourite. I love the ability to spritz it on my face which helps with keeping my time management in check!

Photo 26-11-17, 1 10 26 pm_preview

Exfoliating Scrub – $16.00 AUD ($14.99 NZD)
I generally don’t use an individual scrub as part of my skincare routine as the masks I use contain an exfoliating ingredient. I enjoy the subtle scent of this and I love how environmentally friendly it is, with the use of Walnut Shell to act as the exfoliator.
Most people don’t realise alot of skincare products, dubbed to have exoliating properties actually contain harmful plastic microbeads that endanger the environment. The reason they are harmful is simple – the fish eat them, the small fish get eaten by a bigger fish and that fish then ends up on our dinner table.
Thank you Skinfood for using an environmentally friendly product!
I can’t forget to mention, this also contains lime oil which has antibacterial properties, perfect for those with acne prone skin.

Photo 26-11-17, 1 11 01 pm_preview

SPF 15 Moisturiser – $16.00 AUD ($14.99 NZD)
This product, although it contains a SPF was quite light. So light I didn’t realise and ended up using way too much on my first use – oops! Even with that little mishap, I found it extremely easy to rub this into my face and neck. The SPF 15 Moisturiser also contains Manuka Honey and Aloe Vera. Again, this product has a delightful scent!

Photo 26-11-17, 1 11 45 pm_preview

In conclusion, I adore the range of Skinfood products. There are a few others that I can’t wait to purchase such as the Cleans All and Gel Cleanser (I am obsessed with cleansing!) and also the Nourishing Handcream. The active ingredients and also the price makes my heart so happy, not to mention how good they are for the environment!

I hope you enjoyed my review, please let me know if you have any feedback!

Brand Review – The Natural Clay Co.

Brand Review – The Natural Clay Co
http://www.thenaturalclaycompany.com

Last week I received a very much needed package from The Natural Clay Co. My skin has been severely dry since visiting the beach and a mask was just in order.

Photo 9-11-17, 5 49 03 pm_preview

Th Natural Clay Co. offers a range of different clays;
* Australian Red Reef Clay – Ideal for stressed skin
* Australian Ivory – The gentlest of clays, suitable for all skin types
* Australian Pastel Pink – Calming and mild, ideal for all skin types
* Australian Yellow – Suitable for all skin types
* Australian White Kaolin – Ideal for sensitive, mature and dry skin
* Australian Olive Green – Ideal for oily skin and acne prone skin
* Australian Beige – Ideal for detoxifying and cleansing skin

Photo 9-11-17, 5 49 45 pm_preview

What is Australian Clay and why is everyone raving about it?
Free from toxins, Australian Clay is a 100% natural product and can be used in many ways. Used for healing and ceremonial practices dating back hundreds of years, today we can see it being used to treat acne and also to bring back that healthy glow.

Photo 9-11-17, 5 50 39 pm_preview

The Natural Clay Co. packages their clays in these cute re-sealable bags. As you are mixing the product yourself, you control the amount you are using therefore you can then limit the waste. The Natural Clay Co. is 100% Australian owned and offer 100% natural products, which are also cruelty free.

Now using the mask! The masks come with a reusable wooden spoon you use to mix the clay. Take 1 tbs of clay with water and mix. Apply to the face. Ensure you wash it off before it is completely dry. You will feel the mask working its magic!

I used the Australian Olive Green on my T-Zone and then the Australian Pastel Pink on my cheeks.

Photo 9-11-17, 10 36 02 am_preview
Once the mask was washed off, my skin felt fresh and clear. I had that healthy glow I had been searching for!
I do recommend washing it off in the shower or bath, purely because it can be a little messy and what better excuse to continue your #selfcare routine that little bit longer!

Photo 9-11-17, 11 06 33 am_preview
I was also lucky to receive one of their newly launched products, Pink Clay Sugar Scrub. There are two products in this range, the other is a coffee scrub.
The Pink Clay Sugar Scrub smells divine and you can smell the pink grapefruit as soon as you open the lid. Also notes of Bergamot make it very delightful on the nose.

Aside from smelling great, the scrub left my skin feeling smooth and removed all of that nasty dead skin I’ve been hiding in winter!

The verdict? I highly rate The Natural Clay Co. products as not only do they work, they are a amazing price point. Gone are the days of spending heaps of money on overpriced products that don’t work.
The clays and scrubs are also perfect for gifts and even to spoil yourself with.

Pop onto their website http://www.thenaturalclaycompany.com and see for yourself!

Dazzling Dubai

After spending 2 short nights in Dubai, I could definitely return in a heartbeat. Two nights simply wasn’t enough. The architecture is stunning. To think, only a handful of years ago Dubai was pure desert.

Photo 7-11-17-8

We flew into Abu Dhabi and had a taxi drive us to Dubai. From memory it wasn’t too expensive and the drive was interesting. It is basically one long stretch of road.

I picked the Madinat Dar Al Masyaf, part of the Madinat Jumeirah properties. We were not disappointed. Arriving at 7 in the morning, our attendant had a room ready and we were even upgraded! It was so nice being able to have a nice shower before starting our day.

Photo 7-11-17-13

The rooms are beautifully styled featuring traditional Emirati styling. The bathroom luxurious with full-sized toiletries (my favourite!). Turn down service was prompt each night and it was so lovely coming back to the room with our slippers laid out next to the bed plus little treats like sparkling wine and fruit.

One of the main reasons I chose this property to stay at was the beautiful views of the Burj Al Arab from the beach. Also, the beach front position was also a major drawcard, the water here was so perfection. Think crystal clear waters and white as snow sand.

Photo 7-11-17-15
Photo 7-11-17-10
While staying at the property you have the choice of taking the Abra, a traditional Emirati boat, or a buggy around the grounds. This makes jumping from restaurant or pool so easy to do, and helps to keep you out of the sun.

Photo 7-11-17-16
Photo 7-11-17-7

While visiting Dubai, you must do a sand dune tour. What fun! 4WD through crazy sand dunes was so exhilarating, although best not to do after a meal. You end up at a property in the desert for dinner, belly dancing and other traditional Emirati entertainment.

Photo 7-11-17-11

Please let me know if you are planning a trip to Dubai, I have some excellent restaurants I would love to share with you!

My Favourite “Green” Products

I can honestly say, hand to heart, I am utterly obsessed with skincare.
The pretty packaging, the magic statements “reduce fine lines” and “youthful appearance” all have me hooked-plus did I mention the pretty packaging?

Over a year ago I became a pescatarian and as part of that journey started to look closely at what I was actually putting into my body and onto it.

All the products listed below do not test on animals, which to me is a major selling point.
Why companies still feel the need to do this is beyond me, however that’s a story for another time kids!

Now the fun part, below are my must have “Green” beauty products!

53602B45-5C00-4C38-9585-031E44AE7A84

Malie Organics (pronounced Mah-lee-ay) – http://www.malie.com

Ah, where do I even begin to describe these products? In June I visited Honolulu, Hawaii to celebrate by 30th birthday. I popped into their store located in the Royal Hawaiian (other stores located in Kauai, and also the Ala Moana Centre in Honolulu).
The store is beautifully presented and the Assistant was very knowledgable.

Malie Organics was founded in 2004 by Dana Roberts and her husband. The company is committed to sustainability, preservation of the environment and actively seek ways to reduce their carbon footprint.

Aside from having great company values, their products rock too!
I am OBSESSED with the Kōke’e Beauty Oil. This is a dream. It is a light weight oil, that will leave the skin hydrated with a slight scent. The scent reminds me of long days spent sipping Blue Hawaiians by the beach!
The Kōke’e Body Gloss leaves your skin glowing. I love how both the products are light and don’t weigh your skin down. Perfect to use after a day spent lying on the beach!

Farmacy Beauty – http://www.farmacybeauty.com

Unfortunately, Farmacy Beauty is not currently sold here in Australia. I was desperate to get my hands on a few of their products as I have heard such great things.

Mark Veeder discovered and patented “Echinacea GreenEnvy” which is one of the key ingredients in Farmacy’s products. Mark has partnered with Robert Beyfuss who is an expert in farming.

My favourite Pharmacy Beauty product by far, is their Green Screen.
Green Screen is a broad spectrum SPF 30, however unlike other sunscreens that are thick and hard to smooth into the face, this is light and so easy to wear under sunscreen.

After Tata Harper’s stepfather was diagnosed with cancer, Tata Harper, took the time to review her lifestyle and seek healthy alternatives for herself and her family.
All the ingredients used in the products are grown on the company’s farm in Vermont, America.

I recently picked up the Purifying Cleanser. Wow! This ginger packed bottle of goodness leaves the skin feeling fresh and tingly all over. It smells divine and I love using this in the morning as a pick me up to clear the head and prepare me for the day ahead!

I purchased my Purifying Cleanser from Eve Organics http://www.eveorganics.com.au

Leah Lani Skincare – http://www.leahlaniskincare.com
“I set off to to create a line of skincare that would transform a routine into a ritual” – Leah Lani, creator
Quote taken from http://www.leahlaniskincare.com

I love the Leah Lani Skincare story. By trusting her intuition, Leah and her husband packed their bags and moved to Maui so she could study at Spa Luna. Several years later and with a clear intention, Leah was able to create this gorgeous brand that continues to inspire those seeking clearer skin.

Not only is the packaging the sweetest but you can really feel the love every time you open the jar of her Mermaid Mask. Yes it can be messy, but no one ever said skincare was clean right?
#cleanbeauty

I was quite surprised the consistency of this mask, I even had my mask brush at the ready but I found it best applied with your fingers and a little water. Rinse from the skin and before you know it you are a mermaid, not quite, but your skin will be just like Ariel’s from the Little Mermaid!

I purchased my Mermaid Mask from I Am Natural Store http://www.iamnaturalstore.com.au

fullsizeoutput_5

Fresh – http://www.fresh.com

I was unsure if I should include this mask as although I love it, the brand technically isn’t cruelty free. Although the company does not test on animals,  unless permitted by law. Which means, for instance if sold in China then testing is required by the Chinese government and the business wishing needs to fund that. It’s surprising as the Fresh website seems to no longer reference this so perhaps their stance has changed ad they no longer sell to China?

What I really love about this mask, apart from the packaging – their marketing team are ace, is the real bits of orange and citrus you can see. It’s a lovely texture also, that stays put on the skin and doesn’t melt off.
After I remove the mask my skin feels refreshed and ready to party!

Tell me, what are your favourite “Green” products? I’d love to chat about this!
